As the seasons change, we often have the urge to change our home decor to reflect the cooling temperatures and cozy feel. There are many ways to do this, and a fresh coat of paint is one of the most cost-effective and impactful.

Fall 2018 paint design is unlike any other. We’re seeing some major shifts in eccentric and unique trends. Paint design trends are definitely heating up this fall!

1. Navy

Navy is timeless. As one of the most versatile paint colours, it can be used as both a neutral and an accent. It’s the perfect substitute for black (one of only a handful of hues that can pull this off!), making it a fantastic base colour. Its elegance and sophistication add style.

While most dark colours can feel gloomy, navy blue is a stable colour that spices up any space. It’s relaxing yet vibrant, calming yet creative.

Navy is an easy colour to add to your home since it works in almost every style and space. A navy accent wall adds drama and sophistication; or, perhaps you want to delve deeply into the trend with a fully navy powder room or laundry room. The options are endless.

2. Autumn Maple

There’s more to orange than Halloween and Thanksgiving. This fall, why not try a trendy take on classic orange? Any room will be transformed into a welcoming space.

The colour, while not quite as easy to work with as navy, radiates warmth and uplifting feelings. Maple accents can infuse a home with energy, making any room feel cozy and inviting.

This colour can be somewhat difficult to introduce into your home, so start by adding small accent pieces in your décor before painting the walls.

3. Scarlet Red

Whether it’s a dress or an accent wall in your living room, red is stunning. Many studies have shown that red increases brain activity and drives both physical stamina as well as a feeling of hunger. This makes it an ideal colour for a kitchen or living room. Red backgrounds even increase the attractiveness of the person standing in front of it!

Red is an ideal colour to use in places where work is to be done, such as offices or other working areas. Scarlet Red is a top fall 2018 trend as well as a traditional choice. It also works well in almost any colour scheme.

One way to decorate using this colour is to treat it as the focal point of the room, with lots of neutral colour throughout to keep the red from feeling overpowering.

4. Golden Lime

A unique alternative to forest green, golden lime is an exotic shade that represents abundance and prosperity. If you’re looking to create a modern style using neutral tones and an intense burst of colour, lime is a fantastic option.

Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed a significant shift towards minimalist design that employs neutral colours such as grey, black, and white. Accent colours spice things up, and Golden Lime brings a grounded and earthy feeling to any room.

5. Light Blue

If you want to diverge from neutrals but still want to create a beautiful interior, this hue might be for you. Not unlike classic neutrals, Light Blue is just one of the many shades of blue that are trending this fall. The shade is a break from the classic Autumnal palette and perfect for those looking to prolong summer. It’s a colour that we’re sure to see endlessly in the coming months.

Whether by using small amounts of colour or bold furniture choices like a sofa or accent chair, Light Blue will help you to create a calming and comforting atmosphere.
